Hiking to Tamanawas Falls, Wy'east
To kick off 2020, Michael and I headed out to Wy’east to do a short hike to Tamanawas Falls. As we drove east through the Columbia River Gorge, we left the rainy Portland skies behind us and were treated to morning fog burning off in the sun. The trailhead had quite a few cars when we arrived but for the most part, we had the trail to ourselves. We anticipated more snow and brought snowshoes, but we were able to complete the hike with just our hiking boots, although micro spikes would have been good to have. The rivers and waterfall was gushing due to snowmelt and we were treated to the sound of water rushing during the entire hike to the falls. I also loved that the canopy was a lush, deep green with sprinkles of bright green moss. Overall the hike was incredibly easy and I recommend this trail to anyone wanting to get outside in any season. The waterfall was MUCH bigger than I had anticipated which was also a treat!
