Vatnajökull

This little hike was one of those times when we saw a little parking lot and we said "hm, wonder where that leads to..." So we pulled off the road, parked and started hiking back on the little path from the parking lot. It turned out that this little hike took us to the base of a finger off of Vatnajökull. The ground was covered with hundreds of different types of mosses, shrubs and lichen that were all in the midst of changing colors for fall. It was a perfect little impromptu hike :)
