Hiking Silver Falls State Park
Hike Length: 7.2 mile loop
Difficulty: Moderate (some steep uphill sections but otherwise flat)
Solitude: Crowded during summer afternoons and weekends
We specifically hiked the 10 Waterfall Loop because we wanted to see all 10 waterfalls and I highly recommend you doing the same!
Bathrooms, water fountains and pay to park; biking trails; some trails are dog friendly; campgrounds in park as well.
Our first hike in Oregon has been hiked! A follower of the blog recommended Silver Falls State Park for it's 10 Waterfall Hike and it was such a great hike! We started early in the morning and we're really glad we did because by the time we got back to the parking lot it was so full and there were people everywhere. The trail is relatively easy with a few sharp uphill climbs (some parts had stairs to make it easier) but otherwise it was relatively flat as it followed the river down the gorge. We started in the south parking area and grabbed a map at the kiosk which gave us easy to follow directions for the 10 Waterfalls Hike. While the waterfalls were absolutely stunning we really loved the flora and fauna of the park. Huge conifers towering over us covered in moss and lichen and huge ferns covering the forest floors... we felt like we were in a fairytale!
There are a bunch of other loops you can hike in the park that are 3 miles, 5 miles, and 6 miles but you just won't see as many waterfalls. Tonight we're planning on heading out to the coast to check out Cannon Beach and watch a sunset so I'll be posting about that later this week!
Have a great weekend!
