On a beautiful fall Sunday, I headed out to Mount Hood Wilderness with a friend, Paige, to hike up the Tom, Dick & Harry trail. The hike begins at the Mirror Lake Trailhead and winds around Mirror Lake before heading further up the mountain. The hike up to Mirror Lake is relatively easy with a gradual climb in elevation. On a still morning the lake provides a perfect reflective surface to mirror the summit of Mount Hood. The trail continues past the lake and begins to climb more steeply up to the summits of Tom, Dick & Harry. The summit was wicked cold and windy on this particular day but we had crystal clear skies and could see straight to Mount Rainier! Other peaks we could see included Mount Jefferson, Mount Saint Helens, Mount Adams, Mount Jefferson and of course Mount Hood. Because the wind was borderline knocking us over, we decided to turn back down the mountain rather than to venture out further on the mountain top. According to my Apple Watch, the hike was 6.75 miles round trip since we had to park so much further down the road (parking lot was full).
