A Little Update! — Snows Out West

Good morning and HI! I haven't been on here in awhile but as you know it's because Michael and I are on our summer vacation. Right now we are currently in Golden, BC but all the pictures I posted in this post are from our time in Montana. We started in Montana where we camped, backpacked, fly fished and then stayed in a little cabin in Polebridge before heading up to Canada to meet my parents. The first few days we were up here we camped at Lake Louise but now we're all in a cozy little AirBnb and doing day hikes in Yoho and western Banff. But since all these pictures are from Montana I'll do a little update on just that.

Montana was AMAZING! The mountains were big, the wildflowers were in full bloom and the water was cold and clear. Backpacking was so fun but also very challenging, both mentally and physically. It was a great experience for Michael and I and we can't wait to be backpacking again. We backpacked down into the backcountry and camped by Glenns Lake. The scenery was unreal and we hiked through the valley so the entire time we had mountains surrounding us. It was pretty chilly at night but I'd prefer it that way. I can't stand sleeping in a sleeping bag when it's hot out, it's the worst. We also went fly fishing and had a lot of luck! We caught a bunch of cutties and the scenery while doing so was, again, amazing. The water is so cold and so crystal clear. We stayed in Polebridge for a few days while we were fly fishing and it was the cutest little town. It's off the beaten path in Glacier so it's not crowded. They have a mercantile and a saloon that sells pizza and beer and that's really about it in town. Our cabin was on the river and it faced the park which meant the view was of the mountains and we got to watch the best sunrises coming up over the Rockies! On our way out of Montana we ended up stopping to do the day hike to Cracker Lake. Although its 12.6 miles we ended up doing it in a few hours and had plenty of time to get up to Canada and check into our campground before dark. It's crazy that it doesn't even get truly dark out until 11:30-11:45!!
