Monday Motivation: Start Your Day Without A Screen

How many of you wake up in the morning to roll over and turn off your alarm only to immediately pick up your phone and start checking emails or social media? I used to do that every morning.

In October I took a break from social media and after a week I really stopped picking up my phone so much. I especially noticed this first thing in the morning when I woke up. Instead of hitting snooze and opening Instagram, I hit snooze and laid quietly for a few moments before getting out of bed. If it was one of my days off, I'd get up and make a cup of tea, think about things I needed to get done that day or go for a run. I really loved how I began to start every day without a screen in my face and even now that I have social media back I’ve been following the same routine. So my challenge to you this week is to wake up and see how long you can go without looking at your phone. I understand that for some of you checking emails is essential before getting to work, but really try and start every day without your phone. If you're feeling extra adventurous you could even wake up earlier and squeeze in a workout (I won't be doing that haha) or just have some time alone where you quietly brew a cup of coffee or tea and sit in peace before beginning your day.
