Monday Motivation: Forgive

DSC_0220.jpg

Good morning and happy, happy Monday! I’m continuing with the Monday Motivation series I started two weeks ago and I just wanted to say if you've messaged me or emailed me about this series, THANK YOU! Even if just one person reads this it makes it worth it :) This week is about forgiveness.Realizing how simple but powerful forgiveness could be was literally a life-changer for me so I wanted to share it with all of you!

FORGIVENESS IS A VIRTUE OF THE BRAVE – Indira Gandhi

Forgiveness is a really powerful action that we have complete control over. A few months ago while in a yoga class, my instructor encouraged the class to forgive anything that was making us mad or upset. If someone had said something mean to you, forgive them. If you had been unhappy with yourself, forgive yourself. Being mad at someone or yourself takes so much energy that could be used elsewhere in your life, so just forgive and move on. In that moment I let go of a lot of negative energy I had pent up inside me and I realized in that class how powerful forgiveness can be. So my challenge to you this week is to forgive. If you’ve been mean to yourself, forgive. If you have been focusing on all the negatives in your life instead of focusing on the positives, forgive. If someone hasn't been supportive of you, forgive them. Then after you forgive, move forward.

"What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream."

- The Four Agreements

Understanding this very simple concept can help you with forgiveness. Understand that when people say negative things about you or treat you in a negative way they are not happy with their own lives. Forgiveness will release you from the waste of energy that you're using to be mad or upset. Additionally, if you find that you are saying mean things or treating someone badly you need to take a step back and reflect on yourself and try to figure out what's causing you to act that way. Then, forgive yourself and move forward.

My challenge to you this week is to forgive someone or something that's been wasting your energy. Has work been getting under your skin, have you been hard on yourself? Go for a run, do some yoga and set your intention to forgive whatever it is you need to let go of.
